We want your trip around the Ha Giang loop to be safe and enjoyable. Choosing a means of travel that suits your needs is important. Below is some basic information that will help you choose the best way for you to experience the Ha Giang loop.
DRIVING A MOTORBIKE
Experienced motorbikers on slower-paced trips preferred. We want your trip to be safe and fun.
Driving a motorbike in Vietnam, and especially in Ha Giang, is very different from driving a motorbike at home. Not only are the traffic rules and the terrain different, but the motorbikes themselves are different than the ones you will find in the West.
For motorbiking in Ha Giang, we recommend semi-automatic motorbikes like the Honda Blade. Automatic bikes have difficulties handling the steep inclines and are hard to repair and replace because they are unpopular in the region. Manual bikes are slightly more difficult to drive and have the added distraction of having to use the clutch to change gears.
The good news is, if you've ridden a bicycle with gears, you can quickly learn to ride a semi-automatic motorbike.
RIDING WITH AN EASY RIDER
Riding on the back of a motorbike with a driver can be just as fun as driving yourself. Some of our customers even prefer it!
Our drivers are locals in Ha Giang who grew up on a motorbike, so not only are they pros at navigating the terrain in Ha Giang, they are also terrific guides who can tell you more about the area and minority culture.
With this option you will not have to pay for the bike rental, but y will have to pay 40 USD/day to cover the driver's fee, lodging, and insurance.

TRAVELING BY CAR
This option is best for those with really small children, elderly family members, travelers with back issues, or a group of friends.
Ha Giang is a beautiful region in Vietnam and shouldn't be missed just because you're worried about riding on a motorbike. You can still experience all of Ha Giang's splendor by car. Comfortable seats and aircon are just two perks of traveling by car.
You can still make plenty of stops to take photos, hike, swim, and interact with locals—just like you would with a motorbike—but with the added comfort and peace of mind of traveling in a larger vehicle.
